So a lot has happened since I last posted. School is well under way, stressful but rewarding at the same time. I got some awesome bookshelves for my room (thank you Ikea, and for Grandma & Aunt Fran for going through all of the trouble to bring them back for me)! I'm going to Europe for Spring Break. I got voted as a member of the local Friends of the Library Board, yay! I went to go see Wicked and it was AMAZING, beforehand we went to the cheesecake factory and it was sooo yummy (but way too big portions) And tons of other stuff that I can't remember right now. I'm starting to remember how much I like classical music, it is so nice to listen to when you just want to relax. It's just so delicate and beautiful. I also saw a movie called Bright Star, about the poet John Keats. It was an astoundingly wonderful movie, it makes me sad that not a lot of people got to see the movie because it wasn't at a lot of big theaters. Thankfully we have a great local theater that shows movies that wouldn't otherwise be seen my most. So hopefully that is a sufficient enough rant. I will try to post pictures of recent activities if I can, but I'm not exactly sure where the cord for my camera is...we'll see what happens. :)

It's been a pretty busy week what with school starting back up and everything. But the one constant thing this week has been listening to npr, morning, noon, and night. I love it! You get to learn about things you never would have even thought about, and during World Cafe I always find out about new musicians that are amazing! The other night a band called Camera Obscura was on world cafe...they are fantastic. I'm not quite sure how to explain their kind of music, but the sound is very unique and wonderful! :)

I love Regina Spektor, so needless to say when I heard that she was coming out with a new album, I was ecstatic. It came out June 23rd of this year, and is called "Far". It is a great album, though a little more "radio friendly" or "mainstream" than some of her other ones. So, to get to the point, my song of the day today is "Eet" by Regina Spektor off of her newest album "Far" Enjoy! :)

At Last!

Okay, so after not posting anything for practically a whole year, I'm finally back! And I'm going to try a lot better on keeping everyone up to date on my life more often. So, today was such a beautiful day in Fort Collins, CO that I decided to take some pictures of all of the flowers growing in the yard. I also took some pictures of Jena, Ewan, and Honor. Enjoy!

Leadville!

A couple of days ago we all went up to Leadville to see where Jena is moving in January. Apparently Leadville is the highest elevation city in the U.S.! Crazy! It was really cold, my feet were completely frozen. But, it had some really cool antique stores, and a really yummy cafe place with great cinnamon rolls. I took some pictures, but most (if not all) are taken from inside of the car. (It got too cold outside to walk, so we rode around in the car for a while). I'm not sure how to get the pictures on right now, but I'll figure it out later.

Music

So, I've always been a big music person. But in the past couple of years I've gotten to have a wider spectrum of music that I like. When I was little I only liked country music (how funny is that! No offense meant to country music lovers). But now I love listening to all kinds of music. I think I can attribute it to my big sister Jena. She is a huge music lover, and has every CD in the world! (not really, but she still has a lot). I feel like over the past few years I've really been able to find out what kind of music I like and don't like. About a year ago I loved a band called Panic at the Disco...not so much anymore. Whereas I still love Mika (his music is amazing!). I love finding new songs that I like, that I can share with my friends and family. My latest find is this song: Lies by The Black Keys. It's kind of gloomy, but very jazz sounding. On the complete opposite side of the musical spectrum is New Shoes by Paolo Nutini. I've liked this song for a while, but only recently started listening to it again after a while of not hearing it.

Christmas Decorating

A couple of weeks ago we decorated the house for Christmas. We even got a real tree this year! It was a really fun time to bond as a family and get ready for Christmas. We moved some furniture around, put up lights, and decorated the Christmas tree. It turned out really nice!

Busy Busy Bee

I feel super stupid for having not posted something in forever! I've just been super busy with school and homework and life in general. Even though I've been super busy nothing too big has happened lately. Lets see..... I got a really cool black dress that goes really good with my new pair of bright purple tights (I'll try to post a picture of it soon). I also got this super cute and very useful thingy that is kinda like an accordion folder except for its like a super cute box with spaces to put papers, I'm not very good at explaining it so I'll post some pictures in a little while. Other than that I've just been thinking about Halloween, I'm too old to go trick or treating but you're never too old to dress up for fun. The problem is I don't even have a costume yet! Ahhhhhhhh! I can't think of anything! So if anybody has any ideas, definitely let me know. Here's my picture of the day, because who doesn't love the muppets!

Beirut

I found out about this band back in February when I went to Utah to visit my aunt Nicki and to go to the Mika concert. Nicki and I went to the concert and when we were in there waiting for the show to start music was playing. We liked it so much that Nicki asked the sound guy who the band was. It was so loud in there I was surprised she could hear him say the name of the band. Once we got back to her apartment we looked up the band and listened to some of their songs. Immediately we both loved the band. Their music is so different, and I could listen to them all day long. The name of the band is Beirut I assume ,but don't know, that they got the name from Beirut the capital of Lebanon. Here's their site: http://www.beirutband.com/

Funest tv show ever!

I don't know if everyone has heard about this show. But it's called Pushing Daisies and its about to start its second season October 1st I think. Not to sound too cheesy but in my opinion it is one of the best shows on television right now. It's so fun and different, and the kind of show that kids and adults can watch, that families can watch together. I won't bore you with the plot details. But definitely check it out for yourselves. Trust me you won't be disappointed. Its so unique almost like its a whole different world. Love it!

First blog post

So I decided to start to do this whole blogging thing! Hopefully I'm tech savvy enough to operate it, how hard can it be?... I'm not quite sure if I'm interesting enough to have something to post on my blog every day. But I'm gonna try to make it fun, so friends and family far away have a way of keeping tabs on me. I think its going to be a fun experience posting fun stuff that happens or that I see during the day that catches my eye. So keep tuned for some fun Megan Moments!
